Many people have been familiar with naphthalan ointment since childhood. This is a miraculous remedy that was used to treat diathesis in children, to maintain beauty, health and smoothness of the skin in adults.

A little about the Naftalan resort
The oil elixir is mined in Azerbaijan at the resort of the same name, after which it was named. It is noteworthy that only the elite knew about this place before. People from the government, famous personalities, actors, singers from all over the world came here to restore beauty and health. And today Naftalan is called nothing other than the "Transcaucasian Baden-Baden". This is a truly worthy resort that can compete with the Dead Sea (Israel) and the medical and health complexes of beauty tourism in Europe.

Treatment at the Naftalan resort is recommended for a wide range of diseases. But there are practically no contraindications. Important additional advantages include proximity (the flight will not take more than two hours) and no need for a visa. Those who have already undergone a course of treatment in Naftalan say that the climate itself promotes healing. A trip to this amazing place will be useful even just for undergoing a course of rejuvenation and increasing the body's defenses.

Naftalan: from ancient times to our era
Previously, people called naphthalan ointment "thick earthly blood". It is distinguished by a golden-yellow or even black-brown hue, viscous texture. The life-giving remedy is associated with a large number of legends, however, as is the region where the elixir is mined.

The miraculous ointment received its name a little later. It comes from the word in the language of ancient Media "naphtha". Translated into Russian, it means "seeping and flowing out". Nizami Nyanjavi was the first to mention the magic elixir. This is a thinker, philosopher and poet from Azerbaijan, who lived in Ganja in 1141-1201, a city located 50 km from the modern resort. In his works, the thinker describes the elixir as follows: "life-giving oil", which is transported from Safi-Kurd in the western direction. At the same time, Naftalan was known in Afghanistan, India, Kievan Rus, the countries of Central Asia and located near the Persian Gulf. Marco Polo also mentioned the miraculous elixir. He described it in his notes as a remedy for any skin diseases. One of the ancient legends dates back to the 6th century. It tells of a dying camel. He came to a lake and entered the water. The animal came out onto the shore completely black, and then began to come to life before the eyes of the caravan drivers. Then they also decided to plunge into the lake, and once on the shore, they felt a surge of energy and vitality. Today, the famous Naftalan resort is located on the site of this lake.

The instructions that today describe the process of using the ointment are already several centuries old. This remedy healed the warriors of Alexander the Great, Roman legionnaires, Vikings, Khazars, Alans and other tribes that ever found themselves on the territory of modern Azerbaijan. Moreover, the medicine from underground was obtained until 1890. It was at this time that the Germans came to the territory and decided to use the healing powers of the remedy for commercial purposes.

In particular, Jaeger, a German engineer, was the first to lay a borehole. He also built a small enterprise that specialized in the production of the elixir. Its healing power quickly became known abroad, and sales went up. Interestingly, during the Russo-Japanese War in the early 20th century, every Japanese had naphthalan ointment in their medicine cabinet as a cure for any wounds.

In 1920, the place where the elixir was mined became Soviet. It was immediately taken under protection, and an experimental laboratory was opened on its basis at the Baku Research Institute of Balneology. It studied the biological healing properties of the product. The Naftalan resort was opened in 1926 and initially exclusively for the elite. They treated diseases of the musculoskeletal system, urology, gynecology, dermatology, and neuralgia.

Modern Naftalan
Modern Naftalan is:

picturesque nature;
ancient history;
unique technologies.
And all this is so harmoniously combined that it is impossible not to be surprised. The first pleasant shock awaits in the foothills of the Lesser Caucasus, where you can enjoy the amazing beauty of coniferous forests and parks, on the territory of which resort complexes are hidden. There is also an opportunity to admire the magnificent mountain range - the Main Caucasian Range.

The resort itself is surrounded by an abundance of greenery. In fact, this is a living justification for the fact that oil "lives" only in poor landscapes. Also on the territory of the resort is the "Museum of Crutches", which has no analogues in the world. Here you can see structures of various shapes and sizes, as well as sticks and canes. The uniqueness of the museum complex is that all these exhibits are left by people who have undergone treatment at the resort and no longer need them.

Therapists claim that naphthalan has the following positive properties:

anti-inflammatory;
pain reliever;
sunscreen;
vasor
